Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Canonbury

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Man with Van Canonbury to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard the rights and welfare of all individuals connected with our services.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Canonbury provides removal, transport and related support services to customers in Canonbury and the surrounding areas. Our activities rely on a small, closely managed team, a limited fleet of vehicles, and a focused network of suppliers providing vehicles, fuel, equipment, uniforms and occasional agency labour. Although we are a relatively small organisation, we recognise that modern slavery can occur in any sector or geography and we remain vigilant in identifying and addressing risks.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to our own operations, to everyone who works for or with us, and to all tiers of our supply chain. Any form of forced, bonded or compulsory labour, servitude, deceptive recruitment or withholding of identity documents is strictly prohibited. Workers must be free to leave their employment in line with applicable laws and contractual terms, and they must not be subject to threats, intimidation or abuse.

Our zero-tolerance stance is communicated to employees, contractors and suppliers as part of our onboarding and contract processes. Failure to meet our expectations may result in the termination of employment or commercial relationships and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.

Due Diligence and Supplier Audits

We assess modern slavery risks in our supply chain based on location, sector and type of service provided. Particular attention is given to labour agencies, sub-contracting arrangements, vehicle cleaning services and the sourcing of uniforms or equipment that may involve higher-risk manufacturing environments. We expect all suppliers to comply with applicable labour laws and to uphold human rights across their operations.

Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, we carry out supplier audits or request evidence of their own modern slavery policies and practices. These audits may include review of employment records, working hours, pay practices and right-to-work checks, as well as information on how the supplier monitors its own subcontractors. We reserve the right to conduct further checks, ask for corrective action plans or discontinue relationships if we identify serious concerns or non-compliance.

Training, Awareness and Reporting Channels

We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our staff and key suppliers. Managers and team leaders receive guidance on recognising warning signs such as signs of coercion, restricted freedom of movement, control of wages or documents, and unusual dependency on third parties. Staff are encouraged to consider the risk of exploitation when engaging temporary labour or new suppliers.

Concerns about suspected modern slavery can be raised through internal reporting channels, including direct escalation to management or through confidential written reports. Individuals are encouraged to speak up without fear of dismissal, disciplinary action or other reprisal when acting in good faith. All reports will be investigated promptly, treated sensitively and, where required, escalated to law enforcement or regulatory bodies. We also remind suppliers of their responsibility to maintain effective grievance mechanisms for their own workers.

Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review

Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery approach rests with senior management at Man with Van Canonbury. They are accountable for ensuring that our policies remain effective, that risks are periodically reassessed, and that appropriate remedial actions are taken when issues are identified. Any confirmed instance of modern slavery linked to our business will trigger an immediate review of the relationship and the implementation of corrective measures.

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to reflect changes in legislation, industry guidance, our business operations and emerging risks in our supply chains. As part of this review, we consider feedback from staff, audit findings and any reported concerns. Updated versions of this statement are approved by senior management and made available to relevant stakeholders to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery and protecting human rights.
